Overview
Combines finasteride, a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, with oral minoxidil for male pattern hair loss.
This formulation is compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy pursuant to an individual prescription following a physician evaluation.
How It's Used
Your prescribing physician will determine the appropriate starting dose and tier based on your health history, current medications, and treatment goals. Follow your physician's specific instructions — do not adjust dose or frequency on your own.
Safety & Considerations
This medication is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that can cause sexual side effects (decreased libido, erectile difficulty) and has been associated with mood changes, including depression, in a subset of users — contact your provider if mood symptoms occur. This medication must not be handled by women who are or may become pregnant — tablets should not be split or crushed by anyone other than the patient, due to risk of harm to a male fetus from skin absorption.
Minoxidil, taken orally, can cause fluid retention, rapid heart rate, and unwanted hair growth on areas beyond the scalp (face, body). Patients with heart conditions should be screened before use. Discontinuing minoxidil typically reverses any regrowth gained. Oral minoxidil is FDA-approved only for severe hypertension — its use for hair loss, at low doses, is off-label, though well-established in dermatology practice.
